PERSUASION POWER
“There is no expedient to which a man will not resort to avoid the real labour of thinking.” - Robert Cialdini
Let's cut the charade and jump straight to the point:
COMMUNICATION IS PERSUASION
Even though a multitude of "gurus" would have you believe otherwise.
You alter and manipulate another person's thoughts the moment you open your mouth and utter sounds that the other person then has to decode in order to understand what exactly it is that you are communicating to them.
All of this happens in milliseconds (just like you are hearing a voice inside your own mind whilst reading these words, right now), without you even stopping to consciously think what exactly it is that the words mean.
This means that language in itself is an unconscious occurrence and the voice you are hearing inside your mind whilst reading this, is my thoughts that you are directly repeating to yourself without even trying to intervene on a conscious level...
Now, before you slam your laptop shut and go an cower in the corner with an aluminum foil hat on your head... r e l a x ...
This simply means that influence and persuasion is a natural thing that you are already doing on a daily basis.
A Few Misconceptions
Persuasion and influence is the process of getting someone else to want to do, think or believe what you want them to. Whether you want someone to accept your ideas, your suggestion or your products / services... persuasion and influencing skills are the key.
Persuasion & influence are not:
- Bullying
- Pressuring
- Tricking
- Deceiving
Persuasion & influence are:
- Elegant
- Smooth
- Effective
- Often Undetectable
Influences On This Training
The information in this training course draws on a number of different sources and ideas from other leaders in the field of influence and persuasion.
The main source is Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), probably the most powerful communications technology in the world.
Other sources include the following:
- Ericksonian Hypnosis
- Robert Cialdini’s Six Principles of Influence
- Chris Tomasulo’s ‘Covert Communication’ Model
The language a person uses is a reflection of their maps and models of reality, and reveals aspects of those maps and models of which the person themselves is not aware of. When their models change, their experience of reality changes.
Language is a lever for changing those models, and thus changing a person’s reality.
You can therefore use language to change your own (or someone else’s) reality.
How Do You Do That?
The core essence of persuasion is in understanding the fundamentals and then learning how to alter the language you are already using and turn it into a powerful tool for change.
